Beangrowers is one of Malta’s foremost alternative rock bands, active since the 1990s.
A female-fronted 3-piece band known for a unique style and infectious mixture of guitar-based pop and quirky keyboard sounds.
The music is often defined as “pop-rock that is short, sharp and to the fuzz-guitar-driven point.” With five albums released, Beangrowers are best known in Europe but have expanded their reach to fans everywhere.
Based in Berlin for several years, they signed to Rough Trade’s German division and built a strong fan base while touring with the likes of Elbow, Tindersticks, Stereophonics, dEUS, amongst others. Director Wim Wenders (Buena Vista Social Club, Wings of Desire, Pina) became a fan and used the song “The Priest” in his film “Land of Plenty”.
In the 00s they signed to various international record labels and toured extensively around Europe, the UK and the USA. Their music features on soundtracks for various films and series in Europe, Canada and the USA. The band has recently released their 5th studio album “128K”, marking a comeback for the trio.
