In this Bashkort cooking workshop, we will make manti together. These steamed dumplings with a juicy filling have been prepared for family gatherings and celebrations for generations.
We will make everything ourselves, from kneading the dough and preparing the filling to shaping and steaming the manti. Along the way, the instructor will share the story of the dish and explain its place in Bashkir culture.
We are not professional chefs. We are young people sharing the skills, traditions and food we know and love. This is the idea behind the “Maitse ja Muster” series: young people from different ethnic backgrounds introduce their cultures through practical skills and shared experiences.
The workshop is open to everyone, and no previous cooking experience is needed. Come on your own or bring a friend. At the end, we will sit down together to enjoy the manti we have made, and you can also take some home.
The workshop is part of Tallinn’s Days of National Cultures and is organised by the Youth Chamber of the Association of Estonian Nationalities.
