Athos – A Lutheran’s Encounter with the Jesus Prayer on the Holy Mountain
Sunday 1. March at 15:00 - 16:30
Arvo Pärt Centre, Laulasmaa
Performer
Archbishop Urmas Viilma
Description
Urmas Viilma, Archbishop of the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church, reflects on his first visit to Mount Athos, the spiritual heart of Orthodox monastic life. As a Lutheran, he found much that was familiar and unifying in the Orthodox tradition and faith as practiced in the monasteries of Mount Athos. His visit to the spiritual home of the Jesus Prayer proved to be deeply meaningful. The lecture, accompanied by photographs taken on site, is a reflection on encounter, listening, and spiritual communion.
The lecture will be in Estonian.
Everyone is welcome.
