Artur Lemba 140 · M4GNET Quartet · Sten Lassmann (piano)

Saturday 11. October at 17:00 - 19:00

Arvo Pärt Centre, Laulasmaa

Artur Lemba was one of Estonia’s first professional pianists as well as an outstanding composer, lecturer, and music critic. This year marks the 140th anniversary of his birth. To celebrate the occasion, three of Artur Lemba’s beautiful chamber works will be performed in the enchanting hall of the Arvo Pärt Centre, with Sten Lassmann also offering insights into the composer and his creative world.

Lemba’s rich body of work is characterized by a romantic style and a melody-filled lyrical musical language. In his youth, he was often called the “Estonian Liszt”—both for his virtuoso playing style and his compositions—and during his lifetime he was one of the few Estonian musicians to perform on the prestigious stages of Helsinki, St. Petersburg and Berlin.
