Flowers as Teachers

Artist Diana Tamane invites you to join her in the autumnal botanical gardens for a meditative walk. Diana is taking part in the Tartu Art House project “Exhibition as Conversation”, where the exhibited artworks reflect her grandmother’s love of flowers. During the Artist Walk you and the artist will go on a sensory and reviving journey inspired by flowers. Even though autumn is a time when plants are getting ready to rest, this oasis in the heart of the city always sparks new experiences and stories.

  • this is a one-on-one walk
  • max duration of 45 min
  • starting point Tartu Botanical Gardens main gate at Lai Street
  • Diana speaks Estonian, English, Russian and Latvian
    available times:
  • 23rd of October - 13.00, 15.00;
  • 24th of October - 15.00

“Artist Walk” is developed by production platform Reskript. Artists and audience members are going together on a scripted journey. The walk takes its shape in dialogue and focuses on different possibilities for conversation, compositional patterns, and on mindful space-time.

Reskript, a platform for shifting the social rituals of culture (founded by Maarin Mürk and Henri Hütt), is continuously expanding its scope. It has moved from bringing performativity to openings, discussions, and presentations to setting up guided tours to Contemporary Art Museum of Estonia's collections, adding experimental ideas of what and how to collect and 180 collection specialists to the museum. The format “Artist Walk”, connecting artists and art lovers, serves as the third major chapter in the activity of Reskript, developed with guest collaborator Evelyn Raudsepp. Reskript is operating under performing arts center Kanuti Gildi SAAL.

“Exhibition as Conversation” (curator Hanna-Liis Kont) takes place from 9 October until 7 November at the Tartu Art House. There are five artists participating – Kjell Caminha, Cloe Jancis, Małgorzata Mirga-Tas, Maarit Murka and Diana Tamane – as well as many conversation partners. Programme and registration on the exhibition’s website vestlus.kunstimaja.ee.

The “Artist Walks” are part of the satellite programme of the Tallinn Photomonth contemporary art biennial.
