Neighbourhood of Oslo Fjordskole
Participants are invited to an imaginative and factual encounter with eigenfrequency. The term describes the frequency with which things vibrate under physical influences, such as wind, punch and earth tremor. In her approach to rhythmorphology, Lidén examines how the phenomenon occurs in matter, life forms and recording instruments. On a beach on Ormøya, Methi and Lidén share observations and stories from a field study at the Norwegian Metrology Institute and how the tidal wave moves mountains in the Himalayas.
This event will take place outdoors, in the neighbourhood of Oslo Fjordskole, Bekkelaget. We recommend warm clothing and dressing according to weather conditions.
A map with details for attendance will be sent via email in advance of the event.
Signe Lidén is an artist based in Oslo. Her work explores relations between place, sensing and sound. Through field recording, instrument-building and conversations, she approaches place as a dynamic becoming produced by geological, biological and atmospheric processes, as well as social and economic relations. Her work spans sound installations, video and performance to more documentary forms such as sound essays and archives.
Hilde Methi is a curator living in Kirkenes (NO/Sapmi). Her work investigates the relationship of her own local position within broader geopolitical contexts. With an interest in processes and new formats for production and imagination, she builds up long term collaborations infusing artistic ideas in local settings.
