Improv comes home to the theatre!

New for us in 2026, The Playground is pleased to launch our (nearly) weekly improv night on Saturdays throughout the year. Each week features different improv groups from Ireland and beyond.

Join us on Saturday 28th February with 3 great acts:

  • Ciaróg Eile
Ciaróg Eile is a long-form improv troupe consisting of Bob Wilson and David Coughlan. Our name comes from the well-known Irish proverb “aithníonn ciaróg ciaróg eile” (a beetle recognises another beetle), meaning something like “it takes one to know one”. Bob and David are two slightly cantankerous men who are very slowly starting to come to terms with not being 17 anymore. We do improv that is funny and heartfelt, and sometimes just a tiny bit moving, despite our exterior display of rugged and stoic masculinity.

  • Murder She Wrote
Roisin McHugh and Neil Curran take you on a rollercoaster ride into the lives of very, very bad people.

  • The Baron and The Mason
What happens when a boss and an employee have a conversation over something controversial that happened in the office? Hilarity ensues.
