This event has been cancelled.

The eel is a mythical fish and, much like many other species on our planet, including humans, the existence of the eel is threatened. Patrik Svensson‘s August award winning Ålevangeliet describes our contradictory relationship with the eel, partly as one of the greatest mysteries of natural science and a historical object of admiration, and partly as a sought-after prey.

Tuomas Rinta-Panttila‘s monologue performance takes its starting point in the world of the book and takes us on a journey through humanity’s relationship with the eel, nature, oneself, and the world.

The eel’s gender fluidity and its four-phase transformation during its life cycle, its migration to the Sargasso Sea, and centuries of research, combined with the accelerating loss of biodiversity, climate change, and the global wave of extinction, create a strong foundation for a touring performance aimed at young people, inviting its audience to marvel at this miraculous fish.
