〄 Τέσσερις διακεκριμένοι μουσικοί της σύγχρονης σκηνής συναντιούνται στο Ον Off studio για να συνοδεύσουν ζωντανά ταινίες ενός από τους σημαντικότερους πειραματικούς σκηνοθέτες του 20ού αιώνα, του Hollis Frampton.

Ʃε μια βραδιά όπου η εικόνα συναντά τον ήχο σε πραγματικό χρόνο, η Νικολέτα Χατζοπούλου (viola da gamba, φωνή, εφέ), ο Άγγελος Μαστραντώνης (βιολί), ο Βασίλης Τζαβάρας (κιθάρα, εφέ, loops) και ο Ʃτέφανος Ψαραδάκης (κρουστά, electronics) δημιουργούν ένα αυτοσχεδιαστικό ηχητικό σύμπαν για τις εμβληματικές ταινίες του Frampton.

Ο Frampton, γνωστός για τη δομική του προσέγγιση και την ποιητική αφαίρεση, προσφέρει το ιδανικό έδαφος για ηχητική εξερεύνηση η οποία δεν λειτουργεί απλά ως συνοδεία, αλλά ως ένα δεύτερο, παράλληλο επίπεδο αφήγησης.

Μια ξεχωριστή ευκαιρία να ξαναδούμε (και να ακούσουμε) τον Hollis Frampton μέσα από τα μάτια και τα αυτιά τεσσάρων σύγχρονων δημιουργών.

🔸 Ο Άγγελος Μαστραντώνης (Αθήνα, 1990) σπούδασε στο Τμήμα Μουσικών Ʃπουδών του Ιονίου Πανεπιστημίου. Το 2017 ολοκλήρωσε τις μεταπτυχιακές του σπουδές στην σύνθεση στο Reid School of Music του Πανεπιστημίου του Εδιμβούργου. Είναι κάτοχος διδακτορικού τίτλου στην σύνθεση από το Πανεπιστήμιο του Εδιμβούργου, υπό την επίβλεψη των Peter Nelson και Dr Gareth Williams. Ως συνθέτης είχε συνεργασίες με τα Red Note Ensemble, Edinburgh Quartet, Chimera Ensemble, την Edinburgh University String Orchestra και το Reid School of Music Ensemble of Contemporary Music. Έχει αποσπάσει το πρώτο βραβείο στον διαγωνισμό Emre Araci Composition Competition 2016, στον διαγωνισμό σύνθεσης ‘New Sounds for Old Instruments’ 2017 του μουσείου οργάνων St. Cecilia’s του Εδιμβούργου και στο διαγωνιστικό τμήμα του Εργαστηρίου Νέων Ελλήνων Ʃυνθετών 2014 της ΕΕΜ. Έχει λάβει το ECAT Composition Prize 2021 ενώ βραβεύτηκε για το έργο του ‘3 Simulcara of Songs by George Gershwin’ στον διαγωνισμό σύνθεσης της ΕΕΜ για 2 πιάνα στην μνήμη του Θεόδωρου Αντωνίου το 2023. Είναι μέλος του art rock σχηματος "Spooky Redrum" και του Elektronika group "Deathbed".

🔸 Ο Βασίλης Τζαβάρας γεννήθηκε στο Παρίσι το 1973. Δουλεύει ως επαγγελματίας μουσικός, μουσικοπαιδαγωγός, συνθέτης και τραγουδιστής από το 1993. Ιδρυτικό μέλος των μουσικών σχημάτων Occasional Dream, Take the money and run, Project 37, 4+1, Silent Move, LYD Quartet, της θεατρικής ομάδας Atonal και της καλλιτεχνικής-εκπαιδευτικής ομάδας Gnous. Έχει σπουδάσει jazz κιθάρα και πιάνο, jazz αυτοσχεδιασμό, ανώτερα θεωρητικά και σύνθεση (δίπλωμα με Άριστα παμψηφεί, 2007). Ʃυμμετείχε στη Biennale Νέων Καλλιτεχνών στη Ρώμη το 1999 με τους Occasional Dream, στην Αθήνα το 2003 με το Project 37 καθώς και στα 2ο και 3ο Φεστιβάλ Νέων Καλλιτεχνών στην Άγκυρα (Occasional Dream 2000/2001). Ʃυμμετείχε στα «Workshop Νέων Ελλήνων Ʃυνθετών» που πραγματοποιήθηκαν στο Μέγαρο Αθηνών (Ιανουάριος 2008). Υπήρξε τακτικός συνεργάτης – αρθρογράφος – του διαδικτυακού μουσικού περιοδικού TaR (2009-2013) και ραδιοφωνικός παραγωγός στο διαδικτυακό ραδιοφωνικό σταθμό Radiobubble (2011-2013). Διοργάνωσε και επιμελήθηκε τα φεστιβάλ “Last Phrase Project” με συμμετοχή πολλών νέων καλλιτεχνών (εικαστικών, μουσικών κ.α.), “Guitar day” και “Impro day” (Open C.A.S.E. 303 2013, 2014, 2015).

🔸 Η Νικολέτα Χατζοπούλου είναι συνθέτις, περφόρμερ της βιόλα ντα γκάμπα, ερευνήτρια του ήχου και επιστήμονας — μια «metamodern» οραματίστρια που κινείται στο μεταίχμιο μουσικής, αρχιτεκτονικής και αστροφυσικής. Το έργο της εκτείνεται από μουσική δωματίου και ηλεκτροακουστικές συνθέσεις έως όπερες δωματίου και έργα για φωνή, αλγοριθμική και site-specific μουσική, που έχει παρουσιαστεί διεθνώς σε χώρους όπως το Mass MoCA, την Όπερα της Λειψίας, την Αρχαία Ρωμαϊκή Αγορά της Αθήνας, το Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, με αναθέσεις από τους Bang on a Can, την Ʃτέγη Γραμμάτων και Τεχνών του Ιδρύματος Ωνάσση, το Korzo Theater και το ΕΜƩΤ, μεταξύ άλλων. Ως περφόρμερ, ταλαντεύεται μεταξύ παλαιάς και σύγχρονης μουσικής στο πλαίσιο πολυμεσικών παραστάσεων και αυτοσχεδιασμού. Ταυτόχρονα εξελίσσει μία σόλο περφόρμανς για βιόλα ντα γκάμπα, αναλογικά ηλεκτρονικά και φωνή που συνδιαλέγεται ανάμεσα στο αρχαϊκό και το συνθετικό. Το 2018 ίδρυσε την NGallery, ένα ζωντανό εργαστήρι όπου καλλιτέχνες, επιστήμονες και στοχαστές συναντώνται για να δημιουργήσουν πέρα από όρια και κατηγοριοποιήσεις. Η ακαδημαϊκή της έρευνα εξερευνά τη σχέση σιωπής και θορύβου, χώρου και ήχου σε κάθε κλίμακα της συνθετικής σκέψης που αποτυπώνεται στο Hybrid Score — μια πρωτότυπη μέθοδο σύνθεσης στον χωροχρόνο σε υβριδικά και διαδραστικά περιβάλλοντα, αντικείμενο της διδακτορικής της διατριβής στο Πολυτεχνείο Κρήτης.

🔸 Ο Ʃτέφανος Ψαραδάκης είναι πτυχιούχος κλασικής σύνθεσης του τμήματος Μουσικών Ʃπουδών του Ιονίου Πανεπιστημίου. Παράλληλα έχει σπουδάσει κλασικά κρουστά και modern drums. Έχει συμμετοχές σε διάφορα γκρουπ της εγχώριας σκηνής όπως και σε συμφωνικές ορχήστρες (KOA, Ε.Ʃ.Ο ΕΡΤ, Φιλαρμόνια Ορχήστρα Αθηνών). Τα τελευταία χρόνια εξερευνά το ηχητικό πεδίο με τη χρήση συμβατικών οργάνων, καθημερινών αντικειμένων, field recordings και ηλεκτρονικών υπολογιστών. Γράφει μουσική για ταινίες μικρού μήκους και παραστάσεις ενώ ασχολείται με τον ελεύθερο αυτοσχεδιασμό σε σόλο ή ensemble performances.

〄 Four distinguished musicians of the contemporary scene meet at Ov Off Studio to provide live accompaniment to films by one of the most important experimental directors of the 20th century, Hollis Frampton.

In an evening where image meets sound in real-time, Nikoleta Chatzopoulou (viola da gamba, voice, effects), Angelos Mastrantonis (violin), Vasilis Tzavaras (guitar, effects, loops), and Stefanos Psaradakis (percussion, electronics) create an improvisational sonic universe for Frampton's iconic films.

Frampton, known for his structural approach and poetic abstraction, offers the ideal ground for sonic exploration that functions not merely as an accompaniment, but as a second, parallel layer of narration. A unique opportunity to see (and hear) Hollis Frampton again through the eyes and ears of four contemporary creators.

🔸 Angelos Mastrantonis (Athens, 1990) studied at the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University. In 2017, he completed his postgraduate studies in composition at the Reid School of Music, University of Edinburgh. He holds a PhD in composition from the University of Edinburgh, under the supervision of Peter Nelson and Dr. Gareth Williams. As a composer, he has collaborated with the Red Note Ensemble, Edinburgh Quartet, Chimera Ensemble, the Edinburgh University String Orchestra, and the Reid School of Music Ensemble of Contemporary Music. He won first prize in the Emre Araci Composition Competition 2016, the ‘New Sounds for Old Instruments’ composition competition 2017 at the St. Cecilia’s Hall Museum in Edinburgh, and in the competition section of the Greek Composers Union (G.C.U.) Young Composers Workshop 2014. He received the ECAT Composition Prize 2021 and was awarded for his work ‘3 Simulcra of Songs by George Gershwin’ in the G.C.U. composition competition for 2 pianos in memory of Theodore Antoniou in 2023. He is a member of the art rock group "Spooky Redrum" and the Electronika group "Deathbed".

🔸 Vasilis Tzavaras was born in Paris in 1973. He has worked as a professional musician, music educator, composer, and singer since 1993. Founding member of the musical groups Occasional Dream, Take the money and run, Project 37, 4+1, Silent Move, LYD Quartet, the theater group Atonal, and the artistic-educational group Gnous. He studied jazz guitar and piano, jazz improvisation, advanced theory, and composition (diploma with Distinction, 2007). He participated in the Biennale of Young Artists in Rome in 1999 with Occasional Dream, in Athens in 2003 with Project 37, as well as in the 2nd and 3rd Festivals of Young Artists in Ankara (Occasional Dream 2000/2001). He participated in the "Young Greek Composers Workshops" held at the Athens Concert Hall (January 2008). He was a regular collaborator—writer—for the online music magazine TaR (2009-2013) and a radio producer at the online station Radiobubble (2011-2013). He organized and curated the festivals “Last Phrase Project” with the participation of many young artists (visual artists, musicians, etc.), “Guitar day”, and “Impro day” (Open C.A.S.E. 303 2013, 2014, 2015).

🔸 Nikoleta Chatzopoulou is a composer, viola da gamba performer, sound researcher, and scientist—a "metamodern" visionary operating at the intersection of music, architecture, and astrophysics. Her work ranges from chamber music and electroacoustic compositions to chamber operas and works for voice, algorithmic, and site-specific music, presented internationally at venues such as Mass MoCA, the Leipzig Opera, the Ancient Roman Agora of Athens, and Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, with commissions from Bang on a Can, the Onassis Stegi, Korzo Theater, and EMST, among others. As a performer, she fluctuates between early and contemporary music within multimedia performances and improvisation. Simultaneously, she is developing a solo performance for viola da gamba, analog electronics, and voice that engages in a dialogue between the archaic and the synthetic. In 2018, she founded NGallery, a living lab where artists, scientists, and thinkers meet to create beyond boundaries and categorizations. Her academic research explores the relationship between silence and noise, space and sound across every scale of compositional thought, captured in the Hybrid Score—an original method of composition in spacetime within hybrid and interactive environments, the subject of her doctoral thesis at the Technical University of Crete.

🔸 Stefanos Psaradakis holds a degree in classical composition from the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University. Concurrently, he has studied classical percussion and modern drums. He has participated in various groups of the domestic scene as well as in symphony orchestras (Athens State Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of ERT, Philharmonia Orchestra of Athens). In recent years, he has been exploring the sonic field using conventional instruments, everyday objects, field recordings, and computers. He writes music for short films and performances while engaging in free improvisation in solo or ensemble performances.
