SIRĀT begins at a rave in the mountains and deserts of southern Morocco. Luis, a middle-aged father, arrives there with his teenage son Esteban. They are searching for Marina, Luis’s daughter and Esteban’s sister, who vanished months earlier after attending another desert party. The rave is dreamy and disorienting. Strobe lights, techno, and dust make it hard to tell who is lost, who is travelling, and who belongs there.
When the gathering is disrupted and the mood turns dark, Luis and Esteban decide to follow a small group of ravers deeper into the desert, towards Mauritania, chasing rumours that Marina might be at “one last party”. What begins as a search becomes a dangerous journey across an increasingly hostile landscape. Food and water run low. Armed patrols appear. Old secrets surface inside the group. The rave kids become a fragile surrogate family, united by fear, exhaustion, and a shared need to keep moving.
Laxe builds the film from long takes, strong sound design, and non-professional actors mixed with seasoned performers like Sergi López. The result feels physical and immediate. SIRĀT explores grief, faith, climate anxiety, and the thin line between celebration and collapse. The title refers to the narrow path between salvation and doom in Islamic tradition, which fits the constant sense that one wrong step could end everything.
SIRĀT is one of the most talked about European films of the year. If you want something intense, sensory, and different from standard drama, this is the one to catch on a big screen.

How to find FOMO: Enter the Bazari via Atoneli St above Carrefour and take the stairs immediately on your left behind the jewellery stand. The cinema entrance is one flight up in the stairwell.
