Belgium Is a Joke is an interactive English-language comedy night. The audience brings the material. The comedians take it somewhere nobody planned.
Belgium gives us plenty to work with.
The communes, the languages, the bureaucracy, the weather — and the little moments you only understand after living here for a while. That’s the material for Belgium Is a Joke.
Some notes become a quick joke; others send the whole room in a completely different direction. Every audience gives us something different to work with.
How it works
1 — Write it down
Something strange, annoying or ridiculous you’ve experienced in Belgium.
2 — Drop it in the hat
Keep it anonymous, or mark an X if you’re happy for the comedians to involve you.
3 — See what happens
The comedians pull the notes during the show and turn them into comedy on the spot.
Taking part is optional. You don’t have to write a note, and you won’t be put on the spot unless you choose to be involved. You can sit back and watch the whole thing unfold.
