In this panel discussion we will be delving into an important and deeply personal topic: Shame, kink, and how we navigate our unique patterns of desire.
In this panel, we’ll explore topics like:
- Why is it so difficult to talk about desires that fall outside the norm?
- How does shame impact the way we experience, hide, or suppress our sexual desires?
- What does it take to break free from the societal pressures that lead to feelings of shame around kink?
- How can we create spaces - both within ourselves and in the world around us - where we can embrace our desires without fear or guilt?
Even within the kink community, shame and stigma can still run deep - around certain fetishes, what’s considered "acceptable," and even how we view ourselves when we step outside the norm. In this panel we’ll be exploring how these layers of shame affect us, and how we can move towards a place of greater acceptance, both within ourselves and in our relationships.
We’re thrilled to have two incredible guests who bring valuable perspectives on this topic:
Stine Lise is a nurse with over 11 years of experience and is currently completing a postgraduate degree in sexology at the University of Agder. Stine's expertise lies in kink, fetish, BDSM, and relational diversity. Her work is rooted in a GSRD (Gender, Sexual, and Relationship Diversity) framework, aiming to provide inclusive and non-pathologizing support to those whose sexual identities and experiences are often marginalized. Throughout the discussion, Stine will guide us through how shame and minority stress shape our sexual experiences and how we can challenge these barriers. She’s passionate about creating a society where diversity is celebrated and everyone can explore their desires without fear of judgment.
Kaja has been part of the kink community on and off for the past 11 years. Her experiences, both positive and challenging, have shaped how she views stigma, vulnerability, and belonging. As an immigrant child, Kaja has learned to navigate multiple cultural expectations while coming to terms with her own desires. Her journey involves confronting shame and working toward self-acceptance.
