Trauma is often seen as something purely negative that must be overcome. But can we engage with trauma in productive, creative or erotically meaningful ways? Let it be something that transforms us, not just hurt us?

This evening we’ll challenge the traditional framework of trauma and look at the bold and often uncomfortable intersections of trauma, desire, and healing through the work of:

Avgi Saketopoulou - who introduces traumatophilia, the idea that trauma isn’t always something to “overcome,” but can become a source of agency, erotic power and transformation.

Carolyn Elliott - whose book Existential Kink invites us to get honest (and maybe even turned on) by the unconscious patterns we repeat.

Jack Morin - who shows how our most powerful fantasies often come from the emotional dynamics we don’t fully understand.

After the presentation we'll have a group discussion about:

  • Why we might be drawn to what once hurt us

  • How shame, fantasy and agency dance together in our erotic lives

  • What it means to explore your desires consciously, even the messy ones

We will be gathering as a small group of up to 20 people in an intimate and fertile space. We invite anyone who has been longing for a safe, intimate space to listen, ask, and feel less alone. It's a soft landing for those with questions, and a fertile ground for those with stories and tools to offer.

Host

Elisabeth Tverrli is a clinical psychologist and somatic sexologist who aims to create spaces where vulnerability and desire can be explored to create vitality and connection.

This event is for anyone curious about the deep links between trauma and desire, whether for personal exploration, relationship insight, or professional interest in trauma and sexuality.

Bring your curiosity, your skepticism, your questions. Let’s explore together how what once hurt us might also shape our desire and seduce us - and what that means for healing, eroticism and self-awareness.

This discussion will not be audio recorded
