Beginner wheel-throwing course (4 Wednesday nights)

Course content:
The course takes places on four evenings and concentrates on the basics of throwing on the potter`s wheel. We are going to work in a small group (max 6 people) with everyone having access to their own wheel and working in their own pace. No previous experience is required!

Week 1

• Introduction of necessary tools and workshop routines.
• Preparing clay, centering clay on the wheel.
  Week 2
• Opening the clay and pulling up the walls.
• Repetitive exercises for making cylindrical shapes.
  Week 3
• Trimming pieces from the previous week.
• Continuing with throwing: shaping the walls to make rounded forms or bowls.
• Using different amount of clay.
  Week 4
• Trimming pieces from the previous week.
• Finishing pieces: adding handles, decorating and choosing pieces for firing.

Come in comfortable clothes and it might be a good idea to bring your apron and a light snack!
The price includes all materials, firing of work and glazing in transparent glaze. Finished pieces can be collected a few weeks after the end of the course at an agreed time point.
*Teaching language is English, but you can speak English, Norwegian or Hungarian.
