Hosted in Amsterdam by That Comedy Thing—a trusted stepping stone for emerging comedians—this eight week workshop is built for both working comics looking to level up and motivated beginners taking their very first step into Amsterdam’s vibrant, English speaking comedy scene. It’s a hands on, fun, and supportive space to sharpen your craft while connecting with a creative community of fellow writers and performers.

At the core of the course is a practical system you’ll apply directly to your unique voice to understand joke mechanics and generate material. Every session mixes open discussion with hands on solo and group exercises, giving you real time feedback from the room and tailored homework to keep your pen moving between classes.

About your teacher

Ákos Erdősi is an Amsterdam based Hungarian stand up comedian and a widely respected writer in the local scene. Ákos started stand up in 2019 and since then has performed in Europe’s best comedy clubs and opened for as respected names in the industry as Peter Flanagan, Milo Edwards and Patrick Spicer. He is a staple across top clubs like The Comedy Embassy and Red Mic Comedy and beloved by fellow comics in the scene. Beyond the stage, he has worked as a commercial script writer for companies like ASUS, SIMS and HINGE, next to being the mind behind many viral clips of versatile nature, and regularly collaborates on and punches up material with fellow Amsterdam comics.
