At Europe’s leading 5G ecosystem event, the 5G Techritory Forum, the Smart Materials, Photonics, Technologies, and Engineering Ecosystem (MOTE) project will participate in a panel discussion 'Aligning Industry, Research, and Public Understanding of Innovation' and organize a co-creation event 'The Innovation Showcase: Prototypes, Posters, and Possibilities', showcasing its role in advancing scientific innovation through the lens of 5G technology.

Panel Discussion Overview:

When: Oct 31 | 14:30 – 15:20 (EET)
Where: Policy and Strategy Stage

The panel will focus on fostering a transparent and meaningful dialogue between science, industry, and policymakers, addressing key challenges and opportunities for innovation. Our speakers will share insights on:

  • Building strong partnerships across different sectors to ensure that innovations meet market demands and benefit society.
  • Developing long-term innovation programs that can adapt to evolving conditions.
  • The need for clear definitions of innovation metrics in financial and annual reports for industries, universities, and research organizations.

The discussion will aim to explore potential collaborations and a long-term perspective for innovation from the viewpoints of industry, research, and government. The goal is to identify pathways for sustainable innovation, ensuring that scientific advancements can be translated into market-ready solutions that drive economic growth.

This event is more than just a showcase; it’s an opportunity to connect with scientists and industry experts to explore how these innovations are shaping the future. Whether your interests lie in technology, sustainability, or healthcare, there’s something for everyone.

The co-creation event is organized by the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia (ISSP UL), Riga Technical University (RTU), and the Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis (LIOS) in collaboration with other MOTE and BioMedPharm partners. Both projects are supported by the Innovation Fund - National Research Programme (IF-NPP), a state initiative from the Ministry of Economy designed to promote scientific research, facilitate technology transfer, and develop innovative, commercializable products and technologies in line with industry demand in Latvia’s Smart Specialisation Strategy: "Smart Materials, Photonics, Technologies and Engineering Ecosystem" and "Biomedicine, Medical Technologies, Pharmaceuticals.

What is the State Research Programme (SRP) Innovation Fund? State Research Programme (SRP) Innovation Fund is an Industry Research Programme created by the Ministry of Economics of the Republic of Latvia to promote scientific research and cooperation between scientific institutes, universities, and industry, to encourage and support technology transfer, and to develop innovative and commercialized products and technologies according to the needs of the industry in two areas of the Smart Specialisation Strategy approved in Latvia: 'Biomedicine, Medical Technologies, Pharmaceuticals' and 'Photonics and Smart Materials, Technologies, and Engineering Systems'.

What is MOTE? State Research Programme (SRP) Innovation Fund project Smart Materials, Photonics, Technologies, and Engineering Ecosystem (MOTE) (No. VPP-EM-FOTONIKA-2022/1-0001) scientists combine competencies to create photonics, smart materials and robotics innovations needed by industry, which are planned to be developed into commercial materials. The project partners work together to develop fibre-based technologies for a wide range of applications in monitoring pollution, disease, structural resilience, combining expertise in physics, microtechnology, biology and medicine-organ model technologies for testing drug substances.

What is BioMedPharm? Bringing together the strongest medical research organisations in Latvia, the State Research Programme (SRP) Innovation Fund project BioMedPharm aims to create a national-level biomedical research platform to address public health challenges. The platform aims to improve access to therapies to increase survival and work capacity by developing technologies for producing drugs, their form of transport and vaccine production technologies, implementing the re-profiling of medicinal substances, the discovery, and development of new drugs, as well as identifying new biomarkers and developing precision medicine solutions.

What is 5G Techritory? The 5G Techritory platform is an initiative to bring together the key players in 5G development with the goal of developing a robust and aligned 5G Ecosystem in Europe and beyond.
