Here's an overview of our event on our Estonian Saunas blog: https://medium.com/estoniansaunas/discover-how-to-sauna-the-estonian-way-when-you-visit-tallinn-f5b2ec89307f

The sauna is the earliest example of Estonian innovation and has been continuously evolving here over thousands of years.

This event is an exploration of Estonian sauna culture offered in partnership with Latitude59, Estonia's flagship technology conference. While enjoying a sauna, you'll learn about how the sauna has developed here through the ages - from the earliest smoke saunas dug into the ground (which were perhaps the 'minimum viable product') to the latest app-controlled and WiFi-connected saunas that are now made in Estonia. Along the way, we'll also look at old beliefs, new science, different designs, and interesting traditions.

The event is hosted by Anni and Adam - two Estonians who have travelled around Estonia and beyond together to find weird and wonderful saunas - while writing a book about Estonian sauna culture. Along the way, they've also been putting e-Estonia to the ultimate test by attempting to complete tasks online while having a sauna. As a result, they are now the first people to both start a company while having a sauna and vote in national elections while having a sauna!

Everyone is welcome, including groups and solo travellers, whether you are an experienced sauna-goer or have never been to one before. You can enjoy the sauna at your own pace and we'll guide you through everything you need to know.

The event takes place at Heldeke, an underground theatre, bar and sauna in the vibrant Kalamaja district of Tallinn, a short stroll from the Old Town. The address is: Heldeke, Tööstuse 13, 10413, Tallinn.

The sauna has 'home rules', which means swimming clothes are optional and women are welcome to go in separately when they wish. The bar is well stocked with interesting Estonian drinks you are welcome to purchase, including a wide selection of alcohol-free options.

Bring your own towel (or rent one), flip flops (if you have them) and swimwear (optional). Advanced booking is essential, at least one hour before the event.
