Kristiina Watt (EE) will perform at the Viljandi Guitar Festival on October 21.

Kristiina Watt, an Estonian lute player living in Great Britain, is currently studying at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama under the guidance of lute players William Carter and David Miller. On the concert stage, Kristiina regularly acts as a continuo player and accompanist and has performed in both younger and more recognized ensembles/orchestras, including the Academy of Ancient Music, The English Concert, Scottish Ensemble, the BBC Singers and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Kristiina plays in the band Spiritato and has also developed herself as a singer and has studied under the guidance of Dame Emma Kirkby in several master classes.

Theorbo, also known as the chitarrone, was one of the most valued instruments for accompanying soloists in the early baroque period. In addition to this role, a stylistically diverse solo repertoire also developed over time. The concert program will focus on solo works composed for theorb from 17th century Italy and France. The program includes Kapsberger, Piccinini, Castaldi, Couperin, de Visée, le Moyne.
