The Sámi people live in the Nordic countries not very far from us. The region is notable for its cold and harsh nature, both of which inspire the Sámi’s distnict fairy tales. There are no princesses or flying carpets nor sparkling-gold royal palaces in those stories. Instead, the northern lights glow brightly in the sky as endless winter envelops all – animals and people. Human beings and animals live together and understand each other’s language and ways. Actor Tarmo Männard and folk musician Leanne Barbo tell a story of courage, care, and the secret power of bearskins.

Everyone who is not afraid to hear the bizzare stories of the Old Norse legends is welcome to the storyteller’s site. The mysterious and fascinating world hidden in these tales surrounds us to this day, although we don’t notice it right away.
