Join us at FOMO Secret Cinema for this one-night-only event, followed by a live discussion with the Danish director Benjamin Kodboel, who will be joining us in Tbilisi all the way from London, along with Zhana, one of the film’s central participants. The conversation will be moderated by FOMO co-owner and cultural historian Danica Jenkins (PhD, University of Sydney), offering rare insight into the personal and political forces behind this moving story.
GOODNIGHT, MR. STALIN is a haunting and deeply human portrait of how history lingers in everyday life. Set in Gori, the birthplace of Joseph Stalin, this 20-minute Georgian short follows two women from different generations who see Stalin’s legacy in radically different ways. One reveres him as a hero. The other carries the pain of loss caused by wars fought in his shadow. Through quiet observation and striking cinematography, the film captures a Georgia still wrestling with its past and identity.
Seats are strictly limited to 22 guests. Please book in advance, as tickets may not be available on the day of this special event.
Language: The film is subtitled in English and the Q&A with filmmakers will be in English also.
