Photo Museum 45! – Workshops and Ferrotype Portrait Sessions
Sunday 20. July at 12:00 - 18:00
Fotomuuseum, Tallinn
On July 21, the Photo Museum turns 45! To celebrate, a special Photo Street program will take place the day before, on Sunday, July 20, both inside the museum and outside on Raekoja Street (behind the Town Hall). The program includes two workshops dedicated to historic photographic techniques, ferrotype portrait sessions by Studio Ag47, and a sale of vintage photographic equipment and contemporary photo art. Expect (musical) surprises too!

WORKSHOPS
13:00–14:15 – Pinhole Photography Workshop
Discover the roots of photography by capturing an image of Tallinn’s Old Town using a coffee can turned into a pinhole camera. The resulting negative will be developed in the museum’s darkroom. The outcome: a one-of-a-kind, handmade photograph.
16:00–17:15 – Cyanotype Workshop
Try your hand at one of the world’s oldest photographic processes. The cyanotype (also known as blueprint) was invented by British scientist Sir John Herschel in 1842. Despite its age, this technique can be creatively combined with modern tools, such as printed negatives or photograms using everyday objects. The result is a distinctive blue-and-white image.

FERROTYPE PORTRAITS by Studio Ag47
Photographers Käty and Jüri Tarkpea from Tartu will create ferrotype portraits using a large-format camera and the wet collodion process. Each portrait (12×17 cm) is made on a metal plate and developed on-site. Price: €60.
Since each session takes approximately 30 minutes, advance registration is required.
