Psychedelic jazz-rock band Estrada Orchestra released their latest LP “Playground” via Sulatron Records in June. This cosmically spacious ambient album is recorded at an improvised jam at friends Sofia Kruusamägi’s and Ganna Bogomoli’s dance masterclass. The band has called the experimental album a “happy accident”.
“Playground” presentation concert will be held on the 5th of August at Uue Loomingu Maja in Manufaktuuri quarter. It’s Estrada Orchestra’s first public concert in two years, and in addition to the new album’s material, older music will be performed. The band is joined by one of the key conducters of the album, dancer Sofia Kruusamägi and Ilja Tulit. DJs RR Gems and Bandit on decks before and after the live.

Tallinn’s Estrada Orchestra is the forerunner of Estonian underground jazz-funk since 2013. Loosely defined genre borders situate the group of master improvisers into equal parts psychedelic groove and avant-garde. Estrada Orchestra’s multi-faceted discography consists of 5 LPs and a number of singles, receiving support from the likes of Shawn Lee, Greg Foat and Alain Mion. Estrada Orchestra is Misha Panfilov (bass, percussion), Sasha Petrov (saxophone, percussion), Ilja Gussarov (flute), Volodja Brodski (keys) and Madis Katkosilt (drums).
