Alef in repetition shows children and parents how to engage and play with the flow of calligraphy and lettering. Participants will explore writing as pattern making in multiple languages and scripts such as Arabic, Farsi, Tamazight and Tigrinya among others. Using diverse tools and techniques on different surfaces.

Date: Saturday Oct 25th
Time: 16:00-18:00

The workshop is facilitated by artist Tewa Barnosa, who collaborated with Chupan Atashi on the calligraphy painting on the windows as part of the exhibition Daddy Party آن نافه مراد که میخواستم ز بخت درچین زلف آن بت مشکین کلاله بود. Alef, as the first letter of the alphabet and a symbol for new beginnings, has a recurring presence throughout the exhibition.

This activity is suitable for kids and teenagers (and their parents); participants 10+ are welcome to join. The workshop is multi-lingual, and no previous experience with calligraphy is needed. Capacity is limited, so please make a reservation in advance. When booking, kindly mention the age of the participants and the script you are interested in exploring.
