On Wednesday July 22nd from 19:00, we’re hosting a Digital Journal Making workshop with mo Futures inside the Internet is a Real Place installation. This workshop offers space to think, talk and create around our connections to and through cyberspace. 

In this workshop, mo Futures invites us to consider how our digital existences shape the ways we remember, archive, dream and tell stories. Through writing, dialogue and the practice of collage. We will be exploring questions around our usage of the internet, what we bring into these worlds and how we would want our connections to the digital to feel and look like. The workshop will consist of free writing using prompts, sharing some thoughts and using (screenshot) archives to make analog collages. 

We invite you to bring pieces of your digital life into the space: screenshots, archival photographs, songs, receipts, cables, keyboards, music or unsent messages. This workshop offers space to write, talk and create around our connections to and through cyberspace. It is an invitation to honour the possibilities of the digital while questioning how we wish to live with(out) it.

mo Futures is a visual artist, writer & time-traveler approaching art and archives as portals towards worlds away from a here or now. His creative practice revolves around themes such as (gender)queerness, life in an Afropean diaspora, spirituality, myth-making, transhumanism and (digital) visibility. Always using Imaginative powers to manoeuvre beyond the margins and create magical spaces filled with new possibilities.

mo pays tribute to Black queer & trans existences through an experimental archive of photo- + videography, (self)portraiture, text, collages, multi-media installations and Altars. His practice is shaped by reMemories, time-travel, Dreams and a massive amount of Gratitude for all who came before, are here currently, those yet to be. ꩜
